The big day is finally here as the Leafs get set to host the Boston Bruins for Game 3 at Scotiabank Arena.
Back on Monday night at TD Garden, Auston Matthews notched a goal and two helpers to propel Toronto to a gritty 3-2 victory.
Jay Rosehill was back in the mix for the Wednesday edition of Leafs Morning Take. We kicked off the show by discussing the Toronto Sun cover page from Tuesday, one that was entitled, “The Invisible Leaf,” and featured a faceless picture of Mitch Marner. It’s hard to play in this market. That said, Jay Rosehill feels that some of the shade being thrown at Marner is justified right now.
Presented by Greta Bar YYZ, we previewed Game 3. Most importantly, we talked William Nylander and his status moving forward. The star winger was on the ice for the morning skate, but at this point, he should be considered game-time decision. For what it’s worth, as mentioned on the show, we’re hearing Nylander’s been dealing with a head issue over the past week.

Meantime, Auston Matthews took the option and wasn’t on the ice for the morning skate. Nylander question aside, it looks like Sheldon Keefe could be deploying the same lineup Wednesday night’s tilt. Furthermore, we talked about home ice and how much of a factor that could play moving forward. Any way you slice it, the Leafs need to find a way to get Marner going. The last change might help with that.
Speaking of which, Daily Faceoff’s Matt Larkin, who just put out an article on Marner, dropped by to share his thoughts. Coming off the big win, Toronto should be feeling confident going into this one. Momentum doesn’t carry game to game, but we all agreed that they could have to weather an early storm from the Bruins. We’ll see how they handle their emotions. Toronto’s lack of discipline has been a huge story in the season thus far as well.
