Peter Holland signs for two years

Peter Holland and the Leafs have agreed on a 2-year contract extension. The cap number looks to be $775,000, according to Anthony Petrielli at Hot Stove.
Holland’s qualifying offer was $850,000, so this is a case of a player taking less in order to lock up some guaranteed NHL cash. A no-brainer.
Thanks to commenter spamhuis for pointing out that Holland was no longer waiver exempt, regardless of a one or two-way deal.
It’s a minor deal, but Holland is good enough to at least punch in some third line minutes more consistently, and has graduated from being an AHLer, something that was plain to see when he played with the Marlies.
Holland is 23 years old, and had 5 goals and 5 assists with the Leafs last year, averaging about 11:35 over 39 games. This upcoming season will be huge for him in bringing up those numbers, including ice time. With Santorelli, Kontiola and Holland in the bottom six, it’s likely that one will be moved to wing and perhaps up the lineup.
