Let’s start with what we know for sure, and that is that Pontus Aberg has been recalled from the Marlies…
Cool. He seems like a nice guy who loves his kid. Good for him. He’s been doing pretty decent on the Marlies, but hasn’t stood out on the Leafs. That happens a lot around here.
The bigger question is who is he potentially replacing…
Well, I guess we’re over the Nylander illness hump, and he’ll be back tomorrow night. That’s wonderful news since he’s very good and one of the most aggressive goal threats down low.
Awww… There it is. Tavares, Hyman, and Clifford all missing at least warrants an extra body in practice today, and while of that group it seems that Tavares is the one with potential to miss the game against Arizona, and no one will need substitutions tomorrow night, I wonder if Aberg will get his chance anyway, as he’s an interesting option if the Leafs want to try adding some offence to their fourth line. I wouldn’t mind seeing a Clifford-Spezza-Aberg 4th line, over including Gauthier or Timashov.
Additionally above, you’ll see that Holl is also questionable for tomorrow night, and the Andersen news doesn’t really give us any certainty to what will happen with him tomorrow, but personally I wouldn’t mind another Campbell game to play it safe.
