Now thoroughly in the mix of the playoff push, the Leafs are in need of just about every point they can get.
They accomplished just half of that mission on Thursday, losing 2-1 in overtime to the St. Louis Blues.

The Rundown

Not the highest scoring of games tonight. Patrik Berglund got things going early on with a goal 4:15 into the first, the game’s only goal through the game’s first 38 minutes.
Piping in with the game tying goal was Morgan Rielly with just over a minute to go in the second frame..
Mitch Marner and Auston Matthews both had notable scoring chances in the third period, but nothing doing.
The Leafs had a chance to win the game within the final moments of regulation on this questionable call.
But it is what it is. To overtime we go.

Why The Leafs Lost

Just 20 seconds into overtime, things ended with this rush by one specific #91 in a blue uniform.
Tough to blame the youth movement for that goal.
St Louis came out with 65 Corsis and 40 shots to Toronto’s 63 and 32. If you’re into that sort of thing.

Blue Warrior

Despite not being able to hold on in OT, Frederik Andersen had one of his best games of the season, making 38 saves.

Up next

Saturday. It’s going to be a good day. Always is. Buffalo vs. Toronto.
