Report: The Leafs have signed… Josh Jooris

Not quite the big one yet!

About 20 minutes into free agency, a big name announced the Leafs would be signing… not quite a big name. It was Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman  who first dropped the hammer on the Leafs’ first signing of the day, right winger… Josh Jooris.

Jooris floated around Carolina, Charlotte, Wilkes-Barre/Scranton and Pittsburgh this past season, while having previous NHL stints in New York, Arizona and Calgary.

Making just league minimum, Jooris is about as close as you can get to just another body to stick in the lineup. With all of JVR, Tyler Bozak, Tomas Plekanec, Dominic Moore and Leo Komarov appearing to be out, Jooris looks like he’ll be fighting for a spot on the fourth line as a winger.

Not exactly a needle pusher, but hey, welcome to the Leafs, Josh!
