Robidas feeling fine, but still not cleared for contact

Over the past week there have been some concerns over the Leafs’ newly acquired blue-liner, Stephane Robidas, and the extent of his 2013-14 season-ending injury. Robidas broke his right leg in November, then again in April, and his road to recovery has been, as one would expect, a tough one. But perhaps we didn’t realize just how tough it was until a few days ago, when news arose that he had yet to be cleared for contact with the Leafs, and had even contemplated retirement after the second incident.
Robidas noted this afternoon that his status remains unchanged, and his training camp might hit a snag as a result.
It doesn’t look to be a serious situation right now, but this is something to keep an eye on, and frankly, a bit of a surprise.
For a 37-year-old, rebounding from injuries is particularly difficult, so it’s probably a positive that the team is going above and beyond to ensure Robidas is fully healed before getting him into game situations. Hopefully this is truly precautionary and he will return in fine form, as that Leafs blue-line could certainly use him.
