The four-day break is almost over for the Toronto Maple Leafs.
After taking Tuesday off, the team returned to the ice on Wednesday as they get to visit the Philadelphia Flyers on Thursday night.
We kicked off the Wednesday edition of Leafs Morning Take by discussing a very under the radar move by Brad Treliving ahead of last week’s trade deadline. Toronto acquired 6’7” blue liner Cade Webber from the Carolina Hurricanes in exchange for a sixth round pick. Earlier today, the Boston University product was selected as the best defensive defenceman in Hockey East.
Presented by Door Dash, The Appetizer focused on the big match-up against Philadelphia and what to expect. After missing Monday’s practice due to maintenance, Jake McCabe is good to go. Furthermore, at this point, it seems unlikely that Mitch Marner will play. He was banged up in last Thursday’s 4-1 loss to Boston and didn’t play on Saturday in Montreal.
Meantime, brought to you by Charm Diamond Centres, we took our weekly look at the Atlantic Division standings. Detroit’s been slumping big-time and the Buffalo Sabres have been gaining ground. The stretch drive to the Stanley Cup Playoffs will be fascinating —that’s for sure.
Thanks to Tim Hortons, we welcomed in guest one of two on the show. Ron MacLean, host of Hockey in Canada, stopped by. We got his thoughts on Toronto’s deadline, the current playoff format, and he even addressed a recent reunion with Don Cherry.

Additionally, courtesy Douglas, former Marlies forward Josh Ho-Sang also dropped by the show. On Tuesday, the 28-year-old released an 18-track rap album. He named track No. 14 after Auston Matthews (Papi for MVP). We also talked about the new app he’s involved in (Pick-Up Pro Sports).

Carter Hutton will fill-in for Jay Rosehill on the Thursday edition of Leafs Morning Take. We’ll preview the Leafs/Flyers game, plus, we’ll play our interview with Ilya Lyubushkin from earlier this week.
