Roundtable: What gift are you buying for a Leaf this year?

The season is for giving. The December is for presents.

That’s how these holiday things go, right? Ha-ha-ha! Merry Hockey!

Anyway, we decided to ask our staff what gifts they’d give out to the Maple Leaves.

The answers may surprise you!

I’d buy Roman Polak a one way ticket back to the Czech Republic, so that he can go home for Christmas and spend time with his family, and maybe even realize that said family is what truly makes him happy, so that he’ll retire from the great game of hockey

I’d buy Mitch Marner his first beer. He’s been spending his holiday season with everyone important in his life: his classmates, his teammates, and his dad and 5 siblings! His performance on the ice deserves a reward, and the best gifts are the ones you remember forever. The kid deserves a cold one.

I would buy Connor Carrick’s dog a nice dog toy.

I’d buy Tyler Bozak a copy of the latest Call of Duty game. I know that more than faceoff ability and being a family man, Call of Duty is something close to Tyler’s heart. Also, when he inevitably ends up on Pittsburgh, him and Phil can play split-screen together. But wait, there’s more!  Inside the sleeve of the Call of Duty game would be an autographed, custom-made hockey card of former TLN Overlord Jeff Veillette. It’s the gift that keeps on giving!

I’d buy Andreas Borgman a coupon for one free trip to the second D pair. Poor Borgy has been stuck with Roman Polak for what now seems like forever, and Jake Gardiner has not been having a good time this season. I think injecting some fresh blood into that second pairing could be a Christmas miracle that Andreas and Jake could both share and enjoy.
