After weeks of dry spells with hockey news and uncertainty of whether or not NHL hockey will actually be played, we finally got more clarity. The report from Elliotte Friedman is simple: the NHL is coming back.
According to Renaud Lavoie of TVA Sports, the NHL and NHLPA reportedly agreed on the January 13 start date as well as the Canadian Division remaining intact. There still remains a vote by the Board of Governors at some point this weekend along with sorting out health protocols with the Canadian teams, as per Pierre LeBrun of The Athletic.
We are still days away from an official announcement from the league and a schedule won’t be getting released until some time after that. But make no mistake about it: this is the best Christmas present any NHL fan could have asked for.
To put it simply, we can finally see the light at the end of the tunnel but the journey is far from over.
