Remember when the California trip was terrifying?
Seems like a lifetime ago.
On a stretch where they should pick up six points if they’re looking to make serious noise in the NHL standings, the Leafs started off on Tuesday/Wednesday with a statement victory over an awful LA Kings roster.

What went down:

Chart via corsica.hockey
It was a pretty systematic beatdown from start to finish.  The game was over by the midway point, and the Leafs picked up 71.94% of the expected goals share in one of their best games of the season.

Highlights:

Here was goal one: shoutout to Mitch Marner on the passing like he’s spoonfeeding a llama. Goal #1 on the night for nasty Naz.
Goal #2:
Heck of a tip there, big fella. Not bad for a snake!
Goal #3:
The hot start continues, and so does Morgan Rielly’s Norris campaign. What a shot! L.A. scored at some point before that, but like. This isn’t The Maple Kings Nation.
Goal #4:
It’s just always a pleasure when a player who’s struggling a little on the scoresheet chips in. Andreas Johnsson’s second of the year and it’s becoming a rout.
Goal #5: a two goal night for Naz. Always great to see, and always pretty common, too!

Shoutouts to:

  • Frederik Andersen. Did his gig.
  • Mitch Marner. Took a stick in the mouth and still kept it up.
  • Trevor Moore. Got called up. Still hasn’t played yet but… you go, big guy.

Good content:

See you tomorrow as the Leafs take on San Jose past your bedtime.
