The Toronto Maple Leafs, who have won two out of their first three playoff games, have the most playoff wins out of any Canadian team.
We have run the numbers, and that is, in fact as many as every other Canadian team combined!
Some details:
  • The Calgary Flames have one playoff win, and two playoff losses. After not making a move to upgrade their goaltending at the deadline, Mike Smith allowed six goals last night, including one to a dude who literally had never played in the NHL before.
  • The Winnipeg Jets have one playoff win, and two playoff losses. They lost both home games in front of the “best crowd in the NHL.”
  • The Montreal Canadiens have no playoff wins. They did not make the playoffs, but they slightly overachieved so they got a few cool pats on the back for that. A meaningless win over Toronto on the final day of the season (when they had already been eliminated) helps to blind their fanbase from the horrible job Marc Bergevin has done!
  • The Ottawa Senators have no playoff wins. They did not make the playoffs, although Mark Stone, Erik Karlsson, Matt Duchene, and Ryan Dzingel all did. They also do not have their own first round pick in this year’s draft, in case you missed it. They do have this, though.
  • The Edmonton Oilers have no playoff wins. They did not make the playoffs, despite having two players who scored 100 points. Disregard the fact they each played like 36 minutes a night or something because they literally did not have enough competent forwards under contract to ice a proper roster.
  • The Vancouver Canucks have no playoff wins (or appearances) since 2015. They have not led in a playoff series since 2013.  This was their GM in 2014. He is still their GM today.
As people often say online: is this good? Are the Leafs bad and overrated? Do they stand no chance? Are the Leafs… Canada’s team?
