TLN Player Power Rankings: Feb 23, 2015

Welcome to the column that many readers refer to as “something that will appear every Monday whether we like it or not. It’s an exciting week as many of these players could have be traded while I was trying to determine the perfect sentence to reflect on how Stephane Robidas played this week.

Find out how many Leafs have ranked in their final week on the team.

1. DANIEL WINNIK (LAST WEEK: 4)

He may have win in his name but his team sure does lose a lot. He’s been possibly the best all round player on the Leafs in 2015 and he’ll probably be gone by next week for a second round pick

2. NAZEM KADRI (LAST WEEK: 6)

Kadri is the top player who will (should) stick with the Leafs and his strong game against Winnipeg shows that he can be part of the solution

3. JAMES REIMER (LAST WEEK: 15)

Looked solid again in a loss and still deserves a shot at more work. Unfortunately after James appears in a loss he doesn’t get used for a fortnight.

4. JAKE GARDNIER (LAST WEEK: 8)

Still eating minutes and improving rapidly now that he’s away from Carlyle.

5. JAMES van RIEMSDYK (LAST WEEK: 18)

A hearty welcome back to JVRs offensive gifts that were on sabbatical since early January. I still won’t get on a boat with him though.

6. PHIL KESSEL (LAST WEEK: 7)

Phil is life. Phil is love.

7. LEO KOMAROV (LAST WEEK: 17)

Uncle Leo, Hello! We’ve missed you.

8. JONATHAN BERNIER (LAST WEEK: 3)

Bernier picked up a win this week besides less then stellar numbers. Luckily wins are the most important goaltending stat.

9. ROMAN POLAK (LAST WEEK: 16)

Roman has been doing his part to unclog the chemical toilet that is the Leafs blue line. He’s doing such a good job of it that it’s probably going to be his last week working here.

10. OLLI JOKINEN (LAST WEEK: 9)

He’s making sure the Leafs get more than a conditional seventh for him.

11. MORGAN RIELLY (LAST WEEK: 1)

Morgan Rielly’s comments this week are a good reminder that the best course of action is to avoid athlete interviews if you plan on liking athletes.

12. TYLER BOZAK (LAST WEEK: 14)

His early goal against Florida sent a message around the league that he’s a heart and soul first line center that will probably be a 70 point guy when he’s away from this toxic setting

13. DAVID BOOTH (LAST WEEK: 20)

He’s doubled his season assist total in the last two games.

14. PETER HOLLAND (LAST WEEK: 10)

He is now being used a fourth line center now that Jokinen is on board. It’s absolutely what you should be doing to one of the few players the Leafs should want to keep.

15. RICHARD PANIK (LAST WEEK: 5)

Certainly not a standout like last week, but still
Trading Panik would be a Dick move.

16. JOFFREY LUPUL (LAST WEEK: NR)

It’s funny that his last name is Lupul but there’s no loophole to save us from his horrible contract.

17. PETTER GRANBERG (LAST WEEK: NR)

Come on down and pick up your participant ribbon.

18. STEPHANE ROBIDAS (LAST WEEK: 11)

Sadly Robidas’ contract prevented me from truly enjoying the Flyers decision to re-sign Nick Schultz

19. KORBINIAN HOLZER (LAST WEEK: 19)

Dreger says there is an 85% chance Holzer is gone by the deadline.
I say there is an 85% chance I’ll enjoy this trade deadline

20. DAVID CLARKSON (LAST WEEK: 12)

David Clarkson fighting around the world.

DIDN’T MAKE THE CUT

Carrick and MacWilliam’s press box guest appearances don’t count for much.
Neither does Kozun’s 6 minutes of slow hockey, even if he did pick up a goal.
Trevor Smith has joined Dion Phaneuf in the infirmary.
