4 years agoThe Toronto Maple Leafs have re-signed defenceman Martin Marincin to a one-year contract.
The deal will pay the 27-year-old $700,000.
Marincin has appeared in 13 games for the big club this season and another five with the Toronto Marlies, where he scored one assist.
Over his 129 game career, he has scored 19 points. Marincin was acquired by the Maple Leafs in June 2015 from the Edmonton Oilers in exchange for Brad Ross and a 2015 fourth-round pick.
A 2010 second-round pick of the Oilers, Marincin won the 2018 Calder Cup as a member of the Marlies.
Marincin has posted moderate underlying numbers and hasn’t been a risk at 5v5 for the club this season. At the very least, he’s been able to provide the Maple Leafs with solid 6/7 play for very cheap.
