TSN Thinks Toronto Is the Best and They Are Right

Earlier I was reading Oilersnation. Why you might ask? Well, I like to check in on the Jan Brady teams around Canada from time to time and make sure that they are still spending a good about of their time talking about Toronto and how they wish their team and city was good as the Leafs and the GTA. I’m pleased to report that Oilers fans are paying attention and kicking dirt about the gift that is the Leafs youth movement.
Earlier today TSN, the gold standard in hockey coverage, proclaimed that the Toronto Maple Leafs have the best core under 24. Obviously this is indisputable. Auston Matthews and Connor McDavid comparisons are too close to call, then after that the Leafs have the 3rd and 4th best players under 24 in Nylander and Marner. Throw in a Morgan Rielly having a truly breakout season and it’s quite shocking that TSN even took time out of their busy schedule to assess the rest of the league at all.
So what is the case that Oilers fans are using? Well it’s that the guy that McDavid banks pucks off of has an impressive point total. Shocking. They are also trying to make a case for Darnell Nurse being a top talent, when the smart and good looking people of Toronto know that Connor Carrick would be ahead of him on any teams depth chart. The inclusion of Jesse Puljujarvi is laughable and just speaks to the lack of depth and the sad state of the Oilers franchise. Truly they should be pitied as another decade of darkness will soon be upon them.
While the Oilers run out of talent before Puljujarvi, the Leafs list didn’t have a chance to celebrate remarkable talents like Connor Brown, Connor Carrick, Kasperi Kapanen, and Andreas Borgman. Maybe the Leafs should give Timothy Liljegren a game so they can have yet another young star who is superior to Edmonton’s on the record.
Sadly this post is going to see its comment section fill up with angry Oilers fans desperate to justify their existence to the superior fans of Leafs Nation. Ignore them. Pity them. Then go on enjoying the best young team on the planet.
