William Nylander has been ridiculous so far the World Hockey Championship. Through the round robin, Nylander put up five goals and five assists in seven games. But his best of the tournament came in today’s quarterfinal game against Switzerland.
Nylander takes a pass from Oliver Ekman-Larsson and speeds past the defenders, outmuscling Swiss defenceman Christian Marti before sliding the puck between Leonardo Genoni’s pads while in the air. It ended up being the game winning goal, and the Swedes will move on to play Finland in the semifinal on Saturday.
Auston Matthews has received a lot of hype this year for his excellent rookie season, but the Leafs have a special player in Nylander.
