William Nylander is known for his dynamic playmaking on the ice, his electric fashion sense off the ice and he’ll be getting a larger national profile this fall.
Nylander is among several NHL stars that will be featured in a new, untitled Amazon Prime docuseries that aims to provide unmatched behind-the-scenes access. Connor McDavid, Matthew Tkachuk, Quinn Hughes, David Pastrnak, Jeremy Swayman, Jacob Trouba, Jack Eichel, Filip Forsberg and Gabriel Landeskog are among the other publicly listed players and we’ll assume there are going to be a few surprises in store.
“With the full support of the league, players, coaches and owners, we welcome the opportunity to showcase our stars and the greatest season and postseason in sports — the Stanley Cup Playoffs — to a global audience,” NHL chief content office Steve Mayer said in a press release.
This isn’t Amazon’s first venture into the hockey docuseries space and Maple Leafs fans may be bracing against the project: Amazon ran the All Or Nothing: Toronto Maple Leafs series which provided a behind-the-scenes look during the 2021 COVID-19 altered season, where the team ultimately lost in seven games to the Montreal Canadiens. Suffice to say, the stunning end to the season may not be something Maple Leafs fans wanted to relive.
It should be a captivating project, with McDavid and Tkachuk at the forefront as the Edmonton Oilers and Florida Panthers square off in this year’s Stanley Cup Finals.
Box To Box Films, which previously produced the wildly popular Break Point and Drive to Survive series are behind this project, so we can expect some excellent production value behind this new project.
We’ll keep you updated as we learn more details about this upcoming project, which could provide some true, candid moments from players in a league that’s often defined by a more buttoned-up culture.
