Take the wins where you can get them. If they’re not on the ice, they might as well be in the stores.
The NHL announced today that our very own #34 has topped the NHL’s best selling jersey list for the 2017-18 season, or at least those purchased through Shop.NHL.com, NHLShop.ca and Fanatics.com.
Here’s the full list, via NHL.com.
1. Auston Matthews, Toronto Maple Leafs
2. Sidney Crosby, Pittsburgh Penguins
3. Connor McDavid, Edmonton Oilers
4. Marc-Andre Fleury, Vegas Golden Knights
5. Henrik Lundqvist, New York Rangers
6. Alex Ovechkin, Washington Capitals
7. Mats Zuccarello, New York Rangers
8. Patrick Kane, Chicago Blackhawks
9. Jonathan Toews, Chicago Blackhawks
10. Vladimir Tarasenko, St. Louis Blues
11. Patrice Bergeron, Boston Bruins
12. T.J. Oshie, Washington Capitals
13. Jack Eichel, Buffalo Sabres
14. Andrei Vasilevskiy, Tampa Bay Lightning
15. Evgeni Malkin, Pittsburgh Penguins
Some observations:
  • Who is buying a Mats Zuccarello jersey this season? Why?
  • Connor McDavid was the only other player on a Canadian team to make the list, if that’s something you’re worried about.
  • The list doesn’t include other retailers, or non-online purchases, so we won’t really know.
  • TJ Oshie’s round-robin shootout heroics really will live on forever.
  • If you don’t have the disposable income readily available for a jersey, body paint is always a suitable option.
