The Leafs face another setback on the injury front as Calle Jarnkrok is going to miss some time with a broken ankle.

Jarnkrok suffered the injury during Friday’s practice after he blocked a shot during a practice drill and was forced to depart early. He was seen slamming his glove in frustration as he went to the dressing room with staff members, which now makes more sense knowing how long he is going to be out.

Taking his place for tonight’s game is Ryan Reaves, who will be making his return to the lineup for the first time since December 14th when he awkwardly collided with the boards and suffered a knee injury. He was recently removed from IR mere days after expressing his irritation about not being in the lineup, so he will surely be motivated tonight regardless of how much ice time he gets.

The Leafs are already without Bobby McMann who was placed on IR yesterday due to a lingering injury, so this ailment to Jarnkrok severely impacts their depth for the next little while. The good news is that Toronto will head into the Al-Star break after tonight’s game against the Jets so it is possible that both players don’t miss as many games as they otherwise would during a normal stretch of the season. Even still, the Leafs could only muster up one goal against the Jets with a mostly healthy lineup so it won’t get much easier with two secondary contributors unavailable.

Jarnkrok played in 46 games before his injury where he recorded 19 points (10 goals and nine assists) in that span. Reaves has played in 21 games so far this year with only one goal thus far.
