On Thursday night, to the surprise of absolutely no one, Auston Matthews was named an All-Star for the fifth time in his relatively young career. 30 goals in 35 games will do it —that’s for sure.
Carter Hutton filled in for Jay Rosehill on the <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lrWmq5zL-tU">Friday edition of Leafs Morning Take</a>. We kicked off the show by discussing Matthews, his greatness, and how he’ll pretty much be the unofficial host of All-Star Weekend for the Maple Leafs. Furthermore, you just know his buddy Justin Bieber’s going to be in the mix as well. He has celebrity coach written all over him.

In a weird scheduling quirk, the Leafs are prepping for a home and home with the last place Sharks, who’ve dropped 10 in a row. On top of that, Noah Gregor will make his return to SAP Center. Considering how effective he’s been for the Leafs, it still makes zero sense why San Jose elected to move on from the 25-year-old.
