There are rumours abound that the Toronto Maple Leafs could be adding a veteran coach to their staff.

According to the Toronto Sun’s Lance Horby, Toronto-native Bruce Boudreau could be willing to take a demotion to coach alongside Sheldon Keefe.

Boudreau, 65, has been coaching pro hockey since 1990 and been in the NHL since 2007-08 running the bench for the Washington Capitals, Anaheim Ducks and most recently, the Minnesota Wild.

Throughout his career, he’s openly remained a Leafs fan.

This past year he was fired from the Minnesota Wild in the midst of his fourth year with the club. Wherever he’s gone, his teams have been relatively successful having posted a 567-302-115 record in 984 games.

Boudreau has been known for his defensive acumen as a coach and the former Jack Adams winner could be a great addition to Toronto’s bench.

The club announced yesterday that assistant coaches Paul McFarland and Andrew Brewer wouldn’t be returning to the club. McFarland is set to join the OHL’s Kingston Frontenacs as the clubs’ head coach while Brewer didn’t have his contract renewed.
