The Toronto Maple Leafs will be vying for their third straight victory when they visit the Seattle Kraken.
Craig Berube’s squad, who’s coming off a sweep of the province of Alberta, could be getting two significant boosts. Firstly, Mitch Marner, who missed Tuesday night’s contests due to a lower body issue, is a ‘good possibility’ to return to the lineup. Additionally, Anthony Stolarz could make his highly anticipated return in between the pipes. He’s been out since December 12th due to a lower body ailment.
At any rate, we kicked off the Thursday edition of Leafs Morning Take by discussing Rosey’s experience as the game in Calgary. He loved it. That said, he did go on a fun little rant by Pontus Holmberg. He prefers giving Alex Steeves a shot over continuing to roll Holmberg out there.
After that, we debated some intriguing names for the Leafs to potentially target on the trade market. Firstly, it sounds like Buffalo’s Dylan Cozens is available. On Wednesday, ESPN’s Kevin Weekes linked Toronto, among three other teams (DET, MTL, CGY), to the 23-year-old centre. On paper, he would make a lot of sense. That said, it’s all about what the Leafs would have to give up.
Meantime, I threw the name Brad Marchand out there. Why not? Boston’s trending towards a retool, and honestly, I think they could be in trouble to even make the playoffs this season. Furthermore, there’s actually a few guys on Boston that could make sense to target. At the very least, the Marchand conversation was a fun one to have.
After that, brought to you by Greta Bar, we previewed the game in Seattle. For what it’s worth, the Leafs have won six of seven all-time meetings with the Kraken. Speaking of which, made possible by Charm Diamond Centres, former Kraken head coach and Leafs assistant Dave Hakstol dropped by the show once again. He was fantastic. What talked about Craig Berube, working with Morgan Rielly, Seattle being a potential trade fit for Toronto, and what it was like to coach Anthony Stolarz.
