You can make it five straight victories for the Toronto Maple Leafs.
In addition to that, they’re still perfect in 2025.
With that in mind, we kicked off the Wednesday edition of Leafs Morning Take by breaking down a fan brawl in Philadelphia last night. For anyone who’s been to a game there, this video shouldn’t shock you in the slightest. After that, we dissected a video from the KHL where a cell phone fell out of a player’s pants. What a league!
Then, we got into a full recap of Tuesday night’s 3-2 victory in Philadelphia. Joseph Woll made 30 stops to improve to 14-6-0 on the campaign. He’s been rock solid since Anthony Stolarz went. Naturally, that led to a conversation about what the Leafs should do when Stolie is good to return. At this point, I think we’re back to where the season started and that’s Woll as 1A and Stolarz as 1B. We’ll see what happens.
Meantime, Rosey broke down the Connor Dewar / Joel Farabee scrap. That was a shocker, right? Ryan Reaves played 6:52. Where does he fit long-term? Over and above all that, we talked about the big boys getting the job done. Nylander was quiet, but lucky for the Leafs, they still have Matthews, Marner, and Tavares, among others, to shoulder the load. Lastly, we touched on the terrible first period. Unbelievably, despite having two power plays, the Leafs mustered just TWO shots on goal in the first frame. Wild stuff. The positive thing is that they weathered the storm and persevered.
Brought to you by Charm Diamond Centres, Hockey Hall of Famer and former Maple Leaf Eric Lindros dropped by the show. We touched on a variety of different topics including Hockey Canada, his time as a Maple Leaf, his old teammate Craig Berube, playing for Pat Quinn, and what this current Leafs needs to do power through in the Stanley Cup Playoffs.
Coming up tomorrow on the Thursday edition of Leafs Morning Take at 11 AM ET, we’ll preview game two of two on the mentors’ trip as Toronto visits the Carolina Hurricanes.
