Jared Cowen activated from Injured Reserve

Feb 26, 2016, 11:22 ESTUpdated:
With the trade deadline right around the corner, it’s looking like the Leafs still have a number of roster moves to make. Today, they made a relatively minor one that was inevitable at some point.
Per Sportsnet’s Chris Johntston, the Leafs have activated defenceman Jared Cowen off injured reserve from a hip injury.
Cowen, of course, has yet to play a game for the Leafs after coming over in a nine-player trade centring around Dion Phaneuf.
Whether he slots into the lineup tomorrow, or sits out a bit to get his hips back under him is yet to be seen. Cowen, carrying a cap hit of $3.7 million that expires after next season, may be moved again by the Leafs before the deadline if they can find a taker (or perhaps they’re waiting for the offseason), but the Leafs’ plans for the former first-round pick right now are anyone’s best guess.
