Jeff O’Neill thinks Mitch Marner can really build off his performance in the 4 Nations Final: Leafs Morning Take

In short order, Mitch Marner and Auston Matthews are set to return to the scene of last Thursday night’s 4 Nations Face-Off championship game as the Leafs visit the Bruins.
Speaking of which, it’s been hilarious to see the media tour the Tkachuk brothers are on. That’s where the conversation started on the Tuesday edition of Leafs Morning Take. It’s funny because you would think they won, but as all we know, they did not. Better luck next time!
Thanks to Tim Hortons, we offered up an extensive game preview. These two storied rivals are set to meet for the fourth and final time this season. Of note, Toronto’s notched at least a point in all three of the previous meetings (2-0-1). Unsurprisingly, Anthony Stolarz is expected to get the call in goal. The Leafs will go with the same lineup from over the weekend. Also, we talked quite a bit about Calle Jarnkrok being on the ice for the morning skate. The 33-year-old has yet to play this season due to sports hernia surgery. For my money, he could prove to be a big-time roster addition down the stretch here. I’m a big fan.
Thanks to Charm Diamond Centres, former Leaf/ TSN’s Jeff O’Neill then dropped by the show. It was a fun conversation. We talked trade deadline, 4 Nations fallout, and a lot about the Matthews/Marner combo. Most specifically, O-Dog went in depth on Marner and why he believes the Leafs should wait before attempting to sign him to a new contract.
Be sure to join us on Wednesday at 11 AM ET for a full recap of Leafs/Bruins. Also, the trade deadline talk will continue.
