The biggest game in 20+ years is here.
It goes without saying but Game 5 will likely go a long way in deciding who wins the series.
We kept things light to kick off the Wednesday edition of Leafs Morning Take. After giving a mood/vibe check, I had Jay Rosehill react to a fan fight from Sunrise on Sunday night. At the end of the day, we both agreed that the Panthers fan meant business. That said, we gave some love to the Leafs fans that were open to answering the bell.
Then, courtesy RVezy, we previewed Game 5 in Toronto. Through four games, the home team has won every time. Ultimately, a moment like this is why the Leafs worked their bags off to win the Atlantic Division crown. From a lineup perspective, it looks like Craig Berube could be poised to make some changes. We won’t get much confirmation until closer to puck drop but it sounds like both David Kampf and Nick Robertson could be entering the lineup. Bobby McMann, who hasn’t scored in 21 games, could be one of the guys coming out. At the end of the day, the big boys need to step up —namely Auston Matthews and Mitch Marner. Additionally, discipline will be a big thing to monitor, especially after the Domi hit on Barkov at the end of Game 4.
Furthermore, thanks to GRETA BAR YYZ, Hockey Hall of Famer Jeremy Roenick dropped by the show to weigh in on the series. As per usual, JR was very candid and blunt. He gave his thoughts on the first four games of the series, what he’s seen from Matthews and Marner thus far, and who he thinks will end up prevailing in the series. On top of that, he gushed about Matthew Knies. Roenick thinks these are legacy defying games for the Core Four and that they have a chance to change the choker narrative.
The Fourth Period’s David Pagnotta will be in for Jay Rosehill as co-host on the Thursday edition of Leafs Morning Take. Join us at 11 AM ET for a full recap of Game 5. Also, Ottawa Senators head coach Travis Green will drop by the show.
