Leafs Cut Ten Players From Camp

Sep 22, 2014, 19:31 EDTUpdated:
Dave Nonis and Co. completed a little bit of house cleaning earlier today, cutting ten players from Leafs camp as the team prepares for a busy week of preseason action.
Most notably, Matt Finn has been assigned to the Toronto Marlies, while Carter Verhaeghe is returning to the Niagara IceDogs of the OHL and recently signed Cody Donaghey is on his way back to the Quebec Remparts of the QMJHL.
Finn was always going to start his pro career in the AHL, but it’s still a little surprising to see the Leafs’ second best prospect (according to us) not even get one preseason game under his belt before leaving for Ricoh.
Recent AHL signings Brett Findlay and Patrick Watling have also been returned to the Marlies, along with camp invites Stefan Della Rovere, Spencer Machacek, and Francis Wathier.
The Rupert twins, for the time being at least, will be split up. Ryan is heading to the Marlies as well, while Matt is on his way back to the OHL’s London Knights.
