His 69 goals were the most in the salary-cap era and the first to reach the mark since Mario Lemieux did so in 1995-96. Although he just missed out on the 70-goal plateau, his 107 points were a career-high which was than his previous best of 106 in 2021-22, which was his first 60-goal campaign.</p>
<p>Matthews was not quite able to maintain his dominance in the playoffs in part due to <a href="https://theleafsnation.com/news/auston-matthews-ruled-out-for-game-6" target="_blank" rel="noopener">battling an illness,</a> but he still managed to top the team in scoring with four points (a goal and three assists) in five postseason games.
