This afternoon, the OHL announced the nominees for their 2015-16 end of season awards. Among the nominees were Maple Leafs prospects Mitch Marner of the London Knights and Travis Dermott of the Erie Otters. Both players have had great seasons and have a legitimate chance of winning.

A second round selection in last year&#8217;s draft, Dermott is nominated for the Max Kaminsky Trophy that honors the league&#8217;s top defenceman. After a slow start to his season, Dermott caught fire in December and from the time he returned from the World Juniors he helped carry Erie to the best record in the league. Dermott should probably be viewed as one of the favorite for the award.

Everyone knows how dominant Mitch Marner has been for the second straight season in the OHL, and now the league is recognizing it. Marner is one of the nominees for the Red Tilson Trophy that is given to the league&#8217;s most outstanding player. While he has had an incredible year in London, Marner is probably an underdog for the award given the season Kevin Labanc has had in Barrie.
