Mac Hollowell has been recalled to the Toronto Maple Leafs from Marlies.

The 23-year-old did not participate in Marlies practice on Friday morning, which means he’ll be on the ice with the Leafs at some point today.

It’s tough to guess as to why Hollowell has been called up. Usually, if a player is going up for a few days of NHL pay, there’s no announcement. Toronto could still have the stomach bug going through the team, which would make sense for the recall.

The Marlies are headed on a two-game road trip and won’t have much skating time between now and Tuesday. This could very well be an opportunity to have Hollowell get some ice-time at Maple Leafs practices. It could be either or, or something else.

We’ll have to wait and see what Sheldon Keefe says this afternoon.
