Remember the 2016 World Juniors, where Mitch Marner and William Nylander were supposed to put on a show, then some dude messed up Willie pretty bad on like his second shift and Canada bowed out to Finland?
Tbh that was pretty garbage and sad. It’s fun to have a friendly rivalry… BUT it gets better.
For the first time that I’m aware of, William Nylander and Mitch Marner will face off against each other in a competitive hockey game, in the IIHF World Championship Final.
Canada made it there with a 4-2 comeback over the Russians earlier today, while Sweden had a bit of an easier road with a 4-1 win over the rival Finnish squad.
Marner didn’t pick up a point in Canada’s effort, which saw the local boys pick up four goals in the third period after being down 2-0.
Sweden, meanwhile, picked up the game’s first goal and the final three in what was a resounding win over their rivals.
Good hockey boy William Nylander made the game 3-1 with this slick little marker:
He also picked up an assist on the 2-1 goal though it was unspectacular as it was simply a faceoff win.
See you Sunday at 2:45* pm (not 2 as originally written). The game is being shown on TSN.
