Mitch Marner wasted no time in getting to 22 games with an assist on William Nylander’s first period goal.
The goal came on a power play courtesy of Mikael Backlund nudging Joey Anderson, so I guess you can say that Anderson has already provided some value to the Leafs already.
The 22 game streak is the 20th longest in NHL history and Marner has tied Steve Yzerman, Dany Heatley, and Bronco Horvath for that honour.
If he gets to 23 games that would move Marner into a tie for the 18th longest streak, matching Wayne Gretzky’s 7th longest point streak. Only 11 players in league history have had point streaks longer than Marner’s present one as Gretzky, Lafleur, and Lemieux have multiple entries ahead of Marner.
