Morgan Rielly and Tessa Virtue announced the birth of their son, McCormick, in an Instagram post Friday. It is the couple’s first child. It is the couple’s first child.
Virtue posted a photo gallery on Instagram, including a blurred photo of her holding McCormick, with the caption reading ‘McCormick Rielly 💙’ and a legion of well-wishers in the comments.
Congratulations to Rielly and Virtue on this amazing news! Rielly and Virtue were married last season, after dating for years, making their first public appearance in January 2020. Virtue confirmed their wedding announcement in February 2024.
Virtue is considered by many as one of the greatest ice-dancers of all-time and is a veritable Canadian hero, having won several Olympic gold medals for Canada, capturing gold in 2010 and 2018, while earning a silver medal in 2014. She has won several world championships and was one of the preeminent figures in the sport prior to her retirement.
As for Rielly, we don’t need to go through his credentials, but the longest-tenured member of the Maple Leafs is now entering a new chapter of his life. Rielly was in attendance for Auston Matthews being officially named the 26th captain in Maple Leafs history and spoke glowingly about his dear friends in a media availability afterwards. It’s an exciting time in his life, and we’re looking forward to McCormick Rielly updates in the near future.
