NHL History: Toronto Maple Leafs coach Pat Quinn secures 400th NHL win

It was 21 years ago today that Toronto Maple Leafs head coach Pat Quinn secured his 400th NHL coaching victory.
His Leafs toppled the visiting Ottawa Senators 4-2 making Quinn the 13th coach in NHL history to reach 400 wins. It was Quinn’s first season behind the bench with the Toronto Maple Leafs having spent the last five years in Vancouver.
His 400th win came in thanks to a four-goal performance from Yanic Perrault. Quinn improved the Maple Leafs from a .421 points percentage team to a .610 points percentage team and the club went all the way to the NHL’s conference finals where they fell in five games to the Buffalo Sabres.
Quinn was in Toronto until 2005-06 when he was let go from the team. He finished his coaching career in Toronto with a 300-196-52 record and a .591 points percentage.
He finished his total career behind the bench for 1400 games splitting time between the Leafs, the Canucks, the Philadelphia Flyers, LA Kings and Edmonton Oilers.
