Ahead of Saturday’s game against the Edmonton Oilers, the Toronto Maple Leafs held an optional morning skate.
Anthony Stolarz is the projected starter for Saturday’s game, while Joseph Woll also took reps throughout the skate.
Max Domi was in attendance for the skate and Craig Berube confirmed he’ll be in the lineup tonight. Nick Robertson will also factor back in, while Alex Steeves will come out of the lineup. Domi, Steeves, Pontus Holmberg, Morgan Rielly, Chris Tanev, Jake McCabe, Oliver Ekman-Larsson, Simon Benoit, Stolarz and Woll were all in attendance.
Dakota Mermis got some work in before the skate started, taking laps around the ice.
Here’s what you need to know from morning skate:
Nick Robertson returns to lineup in place of Alex Steeves
Nick Robertson will factor back into the lineup after being rendered a healthy scratch for Wednesday’s game against the Washington Capitals. Robertson was replaced by Alex Steeves, who was called up on an emergency basis, but he’s back in the lineup now.
The 23-year-old recorded one goal in 15 games and has struggled to generate real offence throughout the season, despite being afforded opportunities to play within the top six. Robertson also leads the Maple Leafs with seven drawn penalties at 5-on-5 and his tenacity has been valued by Berube and his staff.
Robertson will likely factor in on Toronto’s third line alongside David Kampf and Pontus Holmberg against Edmonton.
Domi returns to lineup after missing practices due to maintenance
Max Domi missed a series of practices due to maintenance, but he’ll be back in the lineup Saturday against the Edmonton Oilers. Domi is amid a 12-game point drought, the longest stretch of his career. Domi will likely centre a line flanked by Matthew Knies and William Nylander, while having to account for one of Connor McDavid or Leon Draisaitl on the defensive end.
Domi has recorded six assists in 18 games and is still looking for his first goal of the season.
Maple Leafs’ projected lineup:
Bobby McMann-John Tavares-Mitch Marner
Matthew Knies-Max Domi-William Nylander
Pontus Holmberg-David Kampf-Nick Robertson
Connor Dewar-Steven Lorentz-Ryan Reaves
Morgan Rielly-Jani Hakanpaa
Jake McCabe-Chris Tanev
Oliver Ekman-Larsson-Conor Timmins
