On this day in 2004, the Toronto Maple Leafs notched their 101st point of the season breaking a franchise record that stood until the 2017-18 season.

The Leafs squared off against the Buffalo Sabres, a game the club won 2-0 in thanks to an Ed Belfour shutout – the 74th of his career.

Toronto, led behind the bench by Pat Quinn, had one more game in that 2003-04 season where they toppled the Ottawa Senators 6-0.

Offensively the Leafs were led by Mats Sundin who scored 31 goals and 75 points in 81 games. On the backend, Bryan McCabe had one of the best offensive seasons of his career scoring 53 points in 75 games.

Toronto beat the Ottawa Senators in the first round of the playoffs in seven games, before falling to the Philadelphia Flyers in the second round in six games.
