If you’re Craig Berube, the messaging for Game 2 of the Battle of Ontario tonight is simple: DO IT AGAIN.
Jay Rosehill was back in the mix for the Tuesday edition of Leafs Morning Take as we offered up an all-encompassing preview for tonight’s festivities. To start the show, I got Rosey’s thoughts on the Stanley Cup Playoffs —in general. Monday night was chaotic. Tough sledding for the Edmonton right now. They cannot get a save. Meantime, Montreal lost in OT, Winnipeg took a 2-0 series lead versus St. Louis, and Dallas tied their series with Colorado thanks to a Colin Blackwell OT winner.
At any rate, brought to you by RVezy, we got into all the Game 2 conversation. Firstly, since he hasn’t been on the show the past few days, I got Rosey’s thoughts on Game 1. Again, he echoed a lot of what we’ve been saying: There was a lot to like on Sunday night. Over the past few days, the officiating has been a huge talking point, especially coming out of the Ottawa camp. The Leafs went 3-for-6 on the power play, which considering their playoff shortcomings in the past, was phenomenal to see. On top of that, Anthony Stolarz made some timely saves and Linus Ullmark continued to struggle in the Stanley Cup Playoffs. That said, we’re both expecting a much better Senators squad tonight. It’s up to the Leafs to match that. If they do, they should have no problem taking a 2-0 series lead.
Courtesy Charm Diamond Centres, Maple Leaf great/2011 Stanley Cup champion Tomas Kaberle dropped by the show. We talked Battle of Ontario memories, playing for Pat Quinn, and the current Maple Leafs, too. Furthermore, Kaberle dished on Game 1, the officiating, and how impressed he’s been with the job Craig Berube’s done thus far.
Be sure to join us for the Wednesday edition of Leafs Morning Take. We’ll recap Game 2, look ahead to Game 3, and former Leaf Alyn McCauley will join us to weigh in on Leafs/Senators.
