Toronto Maple Leafs defenceman Morgan Rielly is going to be out for the next eight weeks after suffering a broken foot.
The injury happened last night against the Florida Panthers, the team said in a statement.
The team said that Rielly underwent a CT scan this afternoon confirming the injury. Rielly has subsequently been placed on the injured reserve.
The Leafs say they will reassess his injury after the eight week period.
Last week, Rielly told The Athletic he hasn’t been playing at 100% this season due to a lower-body ailment.
This season, the long-standing Leafs rearguard has scored 27 points in 46 games — a down year from the 72 point, 82 game season he had last year.
