According to Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman, the Toronto Maple Leafs will sign forward Jack Roslovic to a two-year contract, worth $4 million annually.
Roslovic is listed as the 20th-best free agent on Daily Faceoff’s board. Here’s what Daily Faceoff managing editor Matt Larkin wrote about Roslovic, ahead of July 1:
The speedy Roslovic provided great value relative to his AAV during the regular season, even if he wasn’t consistent. Will he parlay that into a multi-year commitment from the Oilers? He was pretty valuable to a team whose depth was decimated over the 2025 offseason, though it didn’t translate at all to playoff production, and he’s been relegated to the bottom six. It’s telling that Murphy and Dickinson were the priorities to re-sign. Roslovic is trending toward walking.
Toronto offered Roslovic a significant pay raise, as he played for $1 million with the Edmonton Oilers last season. Roslovic recorded 21 goals and 36 points in 69 games with the Oilers, before adding one assist in six playoff games. It’s possible Roslovic slots in as a third-line centre, and the right-handed forward will be considered an asset, with his pace and secondary scoring. Toronto needed to shore up its offensive depth and the 29-year-old Roslovic certainly fits the Maple Leafs’ intentions of going all-in for the 2026-27 season.
Roslovic is also familiar with Maple Leafs captain Auston Matthews, playing together with the USNTDP before starting their pro careers.
It’s been a busy start to free agency. Toronto reportedly signed Colton Sissons to a new contract. Terms of Sissons’ contract have yet to be revealed at the time of this filing. Sissons will likely slot in as Toronto’s fourth-line centre for the upcoming season.
Toronto also traded Nick Robertson to the Pittsburgh Penguins in exchange for a 2028 fourth-round pick. Robertson spent his entire career with the Maple Leafs, but was effectively made redundant under the new managerial regime.
There could be more activity to follow, as the Maple Leafs are reportedly trying to trade for reigning Norris Trophy winner Zach Werenski. Werenski vetoed a move to the Dallas Stars, and is considering a move to either the Maple Leafs or Tampa Bay Lightning.
