Toronto Maple Leafs goaltender Joseph Woll is projected to start Thursday’s game against the Vegas Golden Knights, David Alter of The Hockey News reports.
Woll is coming off a 4-3 overtime victory over the league-leading Colorado Avalanche on Monday, where he made 31 saves in the winning effort. The 27-year-old holds a 11-4-2 record with a .920 save appearance in 18 games this season.
Matthew Knies was absent from the morning skate, but Maple Leafs head coach Craig Berube confirmed that the 23-year-old was out due to maintenance and will play Thursday. Knies has recorded 12 goals and 38 points in 43 games this season, but hasn’t registered a point in his past four games. Bobby McMann skated with Matthews and Domi during Thursday’s morning skate.
“I really believe that he’s attacking in the middle of the ice, he’s demanding the puck in the middle of the ice, and he’s doing a great job using his size and speed going through people,” Berube said of Knies, prior to Saturday’s game against the Vancouver Canucks.
Nick Robertson participated in the morning skate, after missing Tuesday’s game against the Utah Mammoth due to a lower-body injury. Robertson sustained the injury after blocking a shot during the first period of Monday’s contest. During morning skate, Robertson was reinserted on a line with Easton Cowan and Nicolas Roy.
Roy is making his return to Vegas after being acquired in the Mitch Marner trade. The 28-year-old won a Stanley Cup with the Golden Knights in 2023, posting three goals and 11 points in 22 playoff games during their title run.
