The Toronto Maple Leafs have recalled defenceman Timothy Liljegren, the club announced Tuesday.
The recall comes one day after the Maple Leafs announced D Morgan Rielly would miss the next eight weeks with a broken foot.
Liljgren, a 2017 1st round draft pick, has played in 120 games with the Toronto Marlies posting eight goals and 48 assists for 56 points in that time.
This season, Liljgren has taken a large step forward with the AHL club this year posting 24 points (4g, 20a) in 33 games.
The 20-year-old, 6’0, 192 lbs. rearguard has yet to play in any NHL games in his career.
