Toronto Maple Leafs sign Filip Kral, Kristians Rubins to entry-level contracts

The Toronto Maple Leafs have signed a pair of defenceman to entry-level contracts.
The club inked 2018 5th round pick D Filip Kral to a three year ELC, while also signing D Kristians Rubins to a two year ELC.
Kral, 20, played in 54 games with the WHL’s Spokane Chiefs during the 2019-20 season scoring 12 goals and 49 points — good enough for 10th in scoring among WHL rearguards.
Wrapping up his WHL career, Kral appeared in 154 games scoring 120 points. He represented the Czech Republic in the 2018 and 2019 World Juniors scoring two goals in 12 games.
Rubins, meanwhile, originally joined the Leafs organization in 2018 inking an ECHL contract with the Newfoundland Growlers with whom he won the Kelly Cup in 2019.
The 22-year-old appeared in 47 games last season with the Toronto Marlies notching 12 assists and 14 points.
