The Toronto Maple Leafs have traded forward Bobby McMann to the Seattle Kraken according to Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman. The return is a second-round pick in 2027 and a fourth-round pick in 2026, according to TSN’s Tradecentre.
The Maple Leafs and Avalanche had previously completed a deal on Thursday, when the Maple Leafs traded forward Nicolas Roy to the Avalanche in exchange for a conditional first round pick in 2027 and a conditional fifth round pick in 2026. The Roy move confirmed the signal that the Maple Leafs would sell at the deadline.
McMann, who’s a pending unrestricted free agent, had expressed a desire to remain with the Maple Leafs while also acknowledging that a trade was something that could potentially be a reality. He developed through the organization as a late-bloomer, starting in the ECHL before earning a contract with the team after going undrafted.
“It’s hard to put into words, I’m not necessarily trying to speculate on leaving either. I think I just want to battle here,” McMann said. “Working my way into the NHL here and getting the opportunity, I want to make the most of it and continue to put my best effort forward, no matter the situation.”
McMann is currently having a career year, on the cusp of his second 20-goal season with 19 goals and 32 points in 60 games. He previously signed a two-year extension following the 2023-24 season.
McMann, along with Maple Leafs teammates Scott Laughton and Oliver Ekman-Larsson were scratched in each of the Maple Leafs’ last two games (both losses) in anticipation that they would be part of a deadline deal. While no moves involving Laughton and Ekman-Larsson have taken place, McMann will now be heading west with a chance to compete for a Stanley Cup.
