NWHL free agency has started, and this morning the Toronto Six made their first move. In a press release, they celebrated the re-signing of captain Shiann Darkangelo.
“The Toronto Six started free agency on a strong note, re-signing their fearless leader in forward and captain Shiann Darkangelo, who returns for her second season with the organization.
“I am very excited to be re-signing with the Six for season seven as we make a run for the Isobel Cup,” Darkangelo said. “I look forward to playing on home ice and hopefully meeting more fans.”
Across 35 career NWHL contests, Darkangelo has tallied 28 points, recording 17 goals while adding 11 assists. She was among the Original Five players to sign with the Six for their inaugural 2020-21 season, along with Elaine Chuli, Taylor Woods, Emma Greco and Kristen Barbara. Together, the group captured a regular season title in Lake Placid competition, with Darkangelo tying Amy Curlew and Sarah-Eve Coutu-Godbout in points. In the Isobel Cup semifinals, she played on the team’s top line with Emma Woods and league MVP Mikyla Grant-Mentis.”
Look forward to more Six and NWHL moves as free agency continues!
