This has to be the latest we’re still hearing about trades. Apparently the Iowa Democratic Committee runs the NHL trade hotline.
Anyhow, here’s the trade from the Leafs official press release:
The Toronto Maple Leafs announced today that the club has acquired Vegas’ fifth-round selection in the 2020 NHL Draft in exchange for forward Martins Dzierkals to complete a trade between the Chicago Blackhawks and the Vegas Golden Knights. The Maple Leafs have retained a portion of goaltender Robin Lehner’s salary as part of the transaction.
The Maple Leafs now hold 10 selections in the 2020 NHL Draft.
That’s certainly a reminder that it’s great the Leafs are rich. For the low low cost of a player who will never set foot in North America, and some cap space they weren’t using, the Leafs have another late round pick.
Cool. Doesn’t help a lot today, but appreciated nevertheless.
