We have some clarity surrounding the 4 Nations Face-Off, as four Toronto Maple Leafs players were named to Team Canada, USA, Sweden and Finland, respectively.
Auston Matthews (Team USA) and William Nylander (Team Sweden) were already named to their country’s rosters, while Mitch Marner (Team Canada) and Jani Hakanpaa (Team Finland) were announced Wednesday.
The biggest omission may have been John Tavares, who was left off Canada’s team despite recording 11 goals and 22 points in 24 games.
For starters, here are the rosters for each of the four teams involved in the tournament:

Marner, Matthews and Nylander were almost guaranteed locks to represent their country at this tournament because of who they are and how they’ve continued their top form, but Hakanpaa was a surprise. Although it felt like there was an outside chance he’d be selected to Team Finland, I’m not sure many expected him to be picked, especially because he is sidelined with a lower-body injury with Toronto and on the IR.
