Toronto Maple Leafs winger @William Nylander opened the scoring in the second period of his team’s game against the Philadelphia Flyers on Wednesday.
The 25-year-old Swede tipped a pass from @Jake Muzzin past Flyers goaltender @Carter Hart for his sixth goal of the season.
Nylander didn’t redirect the puck with his stick, though … it bounced off his right skate before sneaking underneath Hart’s right arm. Referee Trevor Hanson immediately ruled “no goal” on the play but his call was overturned after a brief review.
Here’s the video of the play, as posted to Twitter by Sportsnet:
Muzzin and @Auston Matthews picked up the assists on Nylander’s goal. Nylander now stands alone in second place behind @John Tavares on the Leafs’ goal-scoring leaderboard.
Toronto currently leads Philadelphia by a 1-0 score after 40 minutes of play.
