I guess they’re actually good. See you at Game 3. Maybe Game 1.

What a game. Heart pumping the whole time. Happy for all the players, in particular McElhinney, Kapanen, Gardiner, Brown, and Matthews. Nylander looked so happy on the tying goal, probably partly because his buddy Kapanen scored it.

Congrats to Jeff for predicting in October that Leafs would make the playoffs even though mainstream media predicted otherwise 🙂

Only Jeff and myself had the Leafs finishing 3rd in the Atlantic Division.

With parity, this is really a hard one to predict just before the opening of the season. Like Jeff, I projected the Leafs to finish third in the Atlantic earlier in the summer. With the changes other teams have made, for short term gain, it is starting to look like a dog fight for that third spot. Generally speaking the Leafs have added a lot of speed and skill up front. As the Russian Rocket states above, it may take half a season before it all comes together.

Edit: My biggest concerns are losing too many faceoffs (Bozak normally spends time injured) and Andersen’s ability to control rebounds, The defence dept is still a work in progress.

24 point improvement from what I predicted in September (it’s good to be wrong occasionally) with one game left.
If the Leafs (veterans) can put away their nerves and just skate and push the play in all three zones, that can be a handful for any team. Let’s hope Freddy gets back ASAP although McElhinny sure stepped up when the team needed him to play 2 of the best periods of his career. So glad Jake was rewarded after the hockey gods decided to be so cruel.
Go Leafs, the bandwagon is filling up again.

So what you’re saying is….some people were a bit off on their predictions ;)?

I’m glad this team was better than expected. I thought the team was likely going to finish 19th in the league, maybe 20th. An improvement, but one step before getting in. I’m outright happy the team was far better than expectations. Good job to the team for learning how to play well and finding a way to get the points.

and seriously, you put up PPP, as if they are a real sports organization. i can’t believe how many MSM’s were cheering against the leafs and wanting them to lose – Mirtle, Sportsnet, CBC. Only you and bandwagoner Cherry were wanting the leafs to win.

      • Consta

You think that sportsnet, post media, and their ilk, have more informed pieces than PPP? Wow………What’s the matter? Did the PPP crew eat you alive for some nonsensical gibberish you posted?

Jeff has been insisting all season long they were going to make it. My predictions was they would be in the hunt for a spot until the trade deadline, but expected them to fade at the end of the season as the top teams rounded into form. It looked like I was going to be correct after their west coast trip, but they proved me wrong.

I was right about one thing. After Matthew’s second little slump I stated the only way he would win the Calder was if the Leafs made the playoffs and Matthews led the way, which he did, and he will.

I think the Jackets, coming off a loss to Philly yesterday, are ripe for the picking, even though I expect them to try and rough up the Leafs. It will be ineresting to see who plays, and who sits today for the Leafs. I hope Andersen is ok, but something tells me McElhinney might surprise a few people if Andersen isn’t able to play.

    Go Leafs Go!

Congrats Jeff! Man I love it when those pompous main stream media talking heads are wrong. I must admit I had my doubts. Maybe I can shake this complex that comes with 50 years of losing. Love this fab rookie offence, they are winners. This year I am happy just to see them get in.

The one thing you got wrong (and are still wrong on), jeffler was the importance that Polak and Martin have on this team. But I’ll let it slide because you get that the #leafsareactuallygood right
