The Toronto Marlies revealed their 2017/18 schedule yesterday, giving you about three months to prepare your plans for the upcoming American Hockey League season (or, in my case, figure out what nights I can keep free to go to concerts or confirm to my family that I’m alive). The full schedule can be found here, but here’s a look at the calendar in a way that isolates key date pockets.

Home Opener Weekend

The Marlies will open up their season against the Utica Comets, AHL affiliate of the Vancouver Canucks on October 7th and 8th. Both games are at home and they both start at 4:00 PM.

Air Canada Centre Games

Games at the Air Canada Centre have become an annual staple of late, and that tradition continues this year. They’ll take on Bellville on November 25th (1:30 PM) and Boxing Day (December 26th, 3:00 PM), the Hershey Bears on February 19th (3:00 PM), and the Laval Rocket on March 12th (3:00 PM).

School Day Games

As is typically the case, the school day games for this season are all in the back of the year. We get hit by a pretty quick 1-2 punch, though, with 11 AM games against Binghamton on February 21st and Syracuse on February 28th, just a week apart from each other. The last one of the season is on April 5th against Utica.

Double Game Days

The Leafs and Marlies will play on the same day quite a few times, including two of the ACC games being pure doubleheaders. Overlap will include, in a mix of Home/Home, Away/Away, Home/Away, and Away/Home…
  • October 7th, 14th, 21st, 28th
  • November 1st, 4th, 8th, 10th, 11th, 18th, 22nd, 25th
  • December 2nd, 9th, 15th, 20th, 29th, 31st
  • January 6th, 20th
  • February 3rd, 10th, 17th, 19th, 24th
  • March 3rd, 10th, 14th, 20th, 24th, 28th, 30th, 31st
  • April 5th, 7th

Other

Toronto closes their season with a pair of games on April 14th and 15th at Ricoh, against Laval and Belleville. Both of those teams (Belleville from Binghamton, and Laval from St. John’s) are recent relocations; they’ll play their first games at Ricoh on October 28th (Laval) and November 26th (Belleville). The Albany Devils, Toronto’s first round opponents, now play in Binghamton and have six games against the blue and white, beginning in November, and the Marlies will get their first crack at their second round opponents, the Syracuse Crunch, on the road on October 27th.
