Cranky uncle gets mad on radio call about Leafs

Like a rambling old man at the dinner table, Ottawa Senators owner Eugene Melnyk took to the airwaves to take some shots at the Leafs process into building one of the best teams in the league.

Stay in your own lane Eugene and hope for your team to be actually newsworthy for whatever they do in actual hockey games.

This was just a segment of some beautiful poetry live on air that Melnyk spewed out of his sewer mouth. Ranging from calling the most notable member of the Senators media “bush league”, to their best forward this decade Mark Stone was “too old” to be signed to an extension – this whole radio segment was gold.

This man has truly gone insane and is finally giving some of that “insane owner goes absolutely mental” entertainment that the NBA has had mountains of, to the NHL.

As if the owner of the team that is going to gift the Colorado Avalanche a top-3 pick in the draft in less than a month has the gall to talk about the Leafs’ rebuild. You kind of need high draft picks to draft good players that eventually win you games.

This team has been lucky in the draft lottery and their current core dropping to their draft picks, but they surely have made minimal mistakes throughout the process.

Sure, the Leafs’ defence isn’t the best in the league, but they have still actually completed a thing called a rebuild and weren’t trading away generational talents for nothing but someone named “Josh Norris”.

It’s hard to see what exact mistakes Melnyk is talking about here. He probably would have drafted Noah Hanifin instead of Mitch Marner in 2015 or something. But considering that Marner’s 86 points this season (so far) has not been topped by a Senators player for over a decade, it’s hard to talk shit about defence.

As soon as the Leafs make a real playoff run, Sens fans might stop blurting out “one goal away from the Final!!1!,”, but until then there’s no real comeback for this argument. At least the Leafs are actually relevant in the hockey world.

Just to add some more delicious entertainment, Melnyk will slink away and start tweeting from his totally not real and not him at all, burner account. He is an endless supply of some insane quotes and completely blind aspirations. Money really ruins people, if he has any.
