Hello Canada and hockey fans in the United States andNewfoundland…and the rest of the world too because this is the Internet, after all.  I’ve been watchingthe playoffs a lot lately. I mean it would be infinitely better if the Leafswere in it but there’s something to be said about watchinghockey without a bias.
The Habs-Bruins series was fantastic. The one downer? Theyrenot The Leafs. Despite the great puck, I almost had to look away from my TV (Ihave an expensive TV).  Speaking ofbuying expensive fancy TVs, I’ve been getting good use out of myLeafs-themed Scotiabank card.
I haven’t had it for very long but I’vealready witnessed what it can do for me. I was at dinner with a buddy near theACC (where we had to wait in line for 30 minutes, as is tradition) and it cametime to pay. My friend pulled out his card, put in his pin, and paid. Pfft. When I busted out my card? The waitress asked about it, my buddy didn’tknow what it was, and for that brief moment I was the President. I explained the card, told them about the Scotiabank Hockey Adventure of a Lifetime Contest(oh I’ll get to that), and paid my bill in style.
Um…I also may or my not have bought this:
…It was only $4. C’mon.
Every little purchase counts, though. Every purchase enters me(or you) into monthly draws for NHL game tickets and other awesome prizes, likeNHL GameCenter LIVE subscriptions and gift cards. Basically, the card I use tobuy cool hockey stuff can win me even cooler hockey stuff!
Hope springs eternal in Leafland. No matter what they do, nomatter how often they whiff on the playoffs, I’ve got hockey on mymind 24/7.
Let’s just hope one of my next purchasesisn’t dinner for my fiancée. We did a playoffdraft and, well, she’s killing me. But hey – itkeeps the playoffs exciting and I’ve still got a shot!
